Building communities, one family at a time!
ECOLOGY & CONSERVATION
Welcome to the Ecology Page for our APOA community!
Here, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world within our community. Whether you're a seasoned environmental enthusiast or just starting to explore the wonders of ecology, this page is designed to provide resources, tips, and inspiration for living in harmony with nature.
Our mission is to promote sustainable living practices and stewardship of the environment. By cultivating a sense of responsibility towards our surroundings, we can contribute to the preservation of local ecosystems and promote the well-being of both current and future generations.

FISHING
Our community is proud to help protect the natural beauty and wildlife of the Chowan River and surrounding waterways. Discarded monofilament fishing line can remain in the environment for many years, creating hazards for fish, birds, turtles, and boaters.
To help keep our waters clean and healthy, Arrowhead Beach maintains a monofilament fishing line recycling collection station at the APOA boat ramp. We encourage all residents and guests to properly dispose of used fishing line in the collection container rather than placing it in regular trash cans or leaving it behind.
By taking a few extra seconds to recycle fishing line responsibly, we can all help preserve the waterways and natural resources that make our community such a special place.

Habitats for Birds
Urban landscapes comprise an increasing percentage of potential wildlife habitat. With proper management and hard work, these areas provide valuable space for many wildlife species, especially birds.
